Who am I?

That's a good question... but the description should be easy, this is just a curriculum! In summary, I'm a Bachelor of Physics by the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), who did her Ph.D. in Cosmology at the same university and who is currently working on Natural Language Processing at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) within the NLP group at the TALP Research Center (Tecnologies i Aplicacions del Llenguatge i de la Parla).

My academic background is on Physics, from my degree to my PhD, but since then I have been working on NLP with a special focus on Machine Translation. Regarding to this topic my expertise is in statistical and hybrid systems, and in document-level translation. During the last years I have also worked on Machine Learning and more recently on Multilingual Information Retrieval. In the different fields, I have dealt with diverse text genres such as news, patents, Wikipedia articles or tweets.

Most of the research has been carried out within the framework of competitive funded projects interacting with private and public institutions. I have been involved in several European and domestic projects related to machine translation and multilingual natural language processing (see for instance OPENMT, OPENMT2, MOLTO and TACARDI). My tasks there embrace both research, and coordination and management.

I advise PhD and MsC students in the Department of Computer Science and I have been teaching first at the Physics faculty of the Universitat de Barcelona and currently at the Barcelona School of Informatics of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

About this site

Within this website you can find a brief summary of my scientific career, and a description of some of the projects I am, will be or was involved in and I'm specially proud of. You will find the usual publications list and a research section which has the aim of eventually being an introduction to machine translation and cosmology. I hope it is useful for anyone interested in those lines. By the way, any comment will be more than welcomed, so send me an email or write the comment!
