Dr Majid Latifi holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, awarded by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain (2018). His PhD research was under supervision of Dr. Horacio Rodríguez, Dr. Miquel Sànchez i Marrè in UPC, and Dr. Qun Liu at ADAPT Centre based in Dublin City University(DCU), Ireland. In his PhD thesis research project entitled “Using Natural Language Processing for Question Answering in Closed and Open Domains”, he contributed to a Semantic-based Question Answering System (ScoQAS) over ontology resources with two different instantiations: closed domain and open domain under Linked Open Data resource (e.g., DBPedia, Yago). He was a Research Associate at ADAPT Centre based in Trinity College Dublin, Dublin from March 2018 to March 2019. He worked with Spokes team for collaborating on Semantic-based Adaptation, particularly semantic uplifting and video summarization, joint research project with Huawei company funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). Currently his main research focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP), Semantic-based Question Answering Systems, Chatbot, Linked Open Data (LOD), Machine Learnings (ML), and Deep Learning (DL). Majid’s abilities as a Computational Linguistics and ML scientist alongside his efforts in computer science have led him to publishing some papers in a number of national and international peer-reviewed publications. More specifically, his research falls under two themes: (a) to develop a thorough understanding of the theoretical concepts of various NLP algorithms, methods and sub-domains of Semantic-based Question Answering Systems and conversational systems; and (b) to effectively apply these ideas for solving various real-world problems using ML and DL approaches. H has conducted his research using Python, PyTorch, NLTK, WordNet, Scikit-Learn, Numpy, Protégé, Stanford CoreNLP, Graphviz, SPARQL Endpoint (e.g., Apache Jena Fuseki, OpenLink Virtuoso), and Github version control. Currently, Majid is preparing a chapter of The Handbook of Persian Computational Linguistics and NLP (De Gruyter Mouton publication). He was a reviewer of international journal and program committee (PC) member of NLP workshops during last years. He serves on editorial boards or as a reviewer of the following international journals: 1- Journal of Grid Computing, Springer Nature since 2019. 2- Machine Translation, Springer Journal since 2020. 3- Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions of Electrical Engineering(Springer publication) since 2020. 4- Guest editor in IGI Global - International Journal of Synthetic Emotions (IJSE), special issue on Advancements in Electronic, Computer and Mechatronic Engineering, 2018. He has contributed as a Program Committee (PC) member or reviewer of international conferences and workshops including BioNLP 2020 at ACL 2020, ACL-BioNLP 2019, ICEDEG 2019, AICS 2018, AMTA 2018, MLP 2017, etc. Most of his teaching experience include theoretical and practical courses at third-level education institutes and working in interdisciplinary environments relevant to the Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. Majid was a lecturer in specialized and practical computer courses at universities of Hamedan (IAU of Hamedan and University of Applied Science and Technology), Iran from 2003 to 2012. He enjoy with positively and cooperatively to transfer course contents to students and talents in teaching and supervising them enthusiastically. In the meantime, Majid was working in Information Technology & Data Center at the IAU of Hamedan. He was honored with the best employee award in 2006 and selected best researcher in 2011 at the IAU of Hamedan. Languages Skills:
