am a Fᴜʟʟ
Pʀᴏꜰᴇssᴏʀ (Catedràtic d'Universitat) at
the Dept. of Computer Science, Universitat Politècnica de
Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain. I received my PhD in
Computer Science from the Dept. of CS at BarcelonaTech
in 1998. I have held various academic positions at
BarcelonaTech and short term positions abroad including
Visiting Professorship at University of Surrey and at
the University of London, UK and a Research Associate at
Drexel University, USA. I am member of IMP-Information Modelling
Processing Research Group of UPC.
» My Rᴇsᴇᴀʀᴄʜ Iɴᴛᴇʀᴇsᴛ include parallel and distributed algorithms, massive data processing, collective intelligence, IoT & networking systems, Cloud continuum computing, security and trustworthy computing, optimization and meta-heuristics. I have widely published in int'l journals, conferences/workshops, books/book chapters. My research results have received an ample reference and citation with Google H-INDEX59 and Index i10 300, WoS H-Index: 36, SCOPUS H-Index: 45. My research is supported by more than 25 Research Projects from Spain, EU and NSF/USA. My research activity is awarded research merits for the six year periods 1996-2001-2007-2013-2019 (four sexenios) by CNEAI, Spanish Ministry and for the periods 2001-2006-2011/2014-2019 (three sexenis compl. autonòmic.), teaching merits for the period 1995-2021 (quinquenios) and is evaluated to A/A in teaching/research by the UPC.
My Erdös number is 3.

» I Tᴇᴀᴄʜ at The School of Industrial and Aeronautic Engineering of Terrassa founded in 1904, among the largest (more than 4000 students) and top best schools of UPC, Spain and Europe. The Schools is located at the UPC Campus Terrassa, a vibrant campus with about 40 research groups and 23 academic degrees. In the past, I also taught online at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).

I am native
from Albania where I was graduated in Mathematics from
the
Faculty of Natural Sciencies (FNS), University
of Tirana (UT), Albania, in 1988. During 1989-1993 I
worked as Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Applied
Mathematics of the FNS, UT, Albania before moving to
Barcelona where I joined the Techical
University of Catalonia as a Visiting Professor at
the Applied
Mathematics Department, and later entered the Department
of Computer Science as a PhD student and in 1996 as
an Assistant Professor.
