Robot success repeated

A modified version of the University of Texas at El Paso's interval-based robot Diablo (that won 3rd place in last year's International 1996 AAAI Robot Competition) has now won first place at the AAAI-97 International Robot Competition. The winning team included Luis Floriano (team leader), Chitta Baral (faculty advisor), Arron Hardesty, Monica Nogueira, and Tran Cao Son.

The International Robot Competition is an annual event organized by the American Association for Artifical Intelligence (AAAI). The 1997 competition was held in Providence, Rhode Island. The robots were supposed to use a vacuum cleaner to tidy up a room.
