Cooke elected Senior Member of IEEE

Daniel E. Cooke, Chief Computer Scientist of NASA Pan American Center for Earth and Environmental Studies (PACES), El Paso, Texas, and Chairman of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Texas at El Paso, has been elected a Senior Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), a professional organization of Electrical and Computer Engineers and Computer Scientists.

The Senior Member status is a rare honor that is conferred only on those who have outstanding research achievements and who have performed great service to the scientific community.

Dr. Cooke's main research achievements include the development of a new (bag) paradigm for high-level programming languages; in particular, he and his students has applies this paradigm to interval computations; see, e.g.:
