Carol Walker Selected as the 2001 Distinguished Alumna

The College of Arts and Sciences of the New Mexico State University has selected Carol Walker as the 2001 Distinguished Alumna. She has co-authored several textbooks and published many professional articles in different areas of algebra. In particular, since mid-1990s, one of her main areas of research is algebraic foundations of the theory and applications of interval-valued fuzzy sets. This is a research area closely related to interval computations, when a degree of confidence in an expert statement is represented by a subinterval of the interval [0,1], and logical operations transform intervals into intervals.
