How to get there

Compiegne is a small french city in the Oise département. It has regular railway connection from Paris. It is situated 75 km in the north of Paris.

By plane

The closest airport to UTC is Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle international airport (named also Roissy-CDG or Paris-CDG or Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle), which has connections from all around the world. From there you can get a taxi. The travel takes around 40 minutes.

We strongly advise attendants to make grouped taxi trips to lower travel costs. If attendants provide us their travel information, we can arrange such trips upon requests.

From the airport you can also reach Compiègne by train, using first the train shuttle RER B from Roissy-CDG to Paris Gare-du-Nord station (about 25mn, shuttle every 10 or 15mn in the week) and then from Paris-Gare-du-Nord station a train bound for Compiègne or bound for Saint-Quentin, which stops at Compiègne (40mn to 50mn depending on the train) . The fares are 8,70 for the RER B and 13,40 for the train. From Compiègne railway station to the Conference site take the Bus nº 5 (Compiègne public buses are free of charge) and stop at the Centre de Recherches bus stop, or take a Taxi in front the railway station. If you land at the Orly airport, take the Orlyval Metro to station Anthony (8mn, 10,25 ), then take RER B to Paris-Gare-du-Nord station (28mn). See above for the indications from Gare du Nord. From the Orly airport you can also take a taxi. The travel takes around 1 hour and half when there is no traffic (but there is always traffic !). You can also land at the Airport of Beauvais, around 60 km from Compiegne. Several low cost companies propose flights landing at this airport.

By train

Take a train from Paris-Gare-du-Nord station bound for for Compiègne or bound for Saint-Quentin, which stops at Compiègne (40mn to 50mn depending on the train). The fares are13,40 . From Compiègne railway station to the Conference site take the Bus nº 5 (Compiègne public buses are free of charge) and stop at the Centre de Recherches bus stop, or take a Taxi in front the railway station.

By Car

From Paris, take the high-way A1 (Direction Lille) and exit at Exit n°9 (Compiègne Sud).


Conference location

The BWCCA 2013 and 3PGCIC 2013 Conferences will take place in the Centre de Transfert of the University of Technology of Compiègne. This center is situated 3km from the city center. You can find here a map of Compiegne and the main sites of the UTC.


Transportation in Compiègne

Public buses are free of charge in Compiègne. Several lines are serving the conference location from the city center. You can find here a general map of the buses lines and below the corresponding timetables. The stop is, depending on the line, Centre de Recherches or Guy Denielou. The trip takes between 15mn to 30mn from the railway station depending on the line. The quickest is to take the Line 5.

Compiègne is a nice small city in northern France within the department of Oise in the Picardie Region. Located along the Oise river, it is situated about 75km far from Paris. Since the origins of monarchy, Compiègne has been a royal and imperial residence. The chateau was the autumn residence of Emperor Napoleon III. The Compiègne's forest, one of the most famous and largest forest in France, is the place where armistices for both World Wars were signed.
