Personal
I am a Ph.D. student in Artificial Intelligence at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), under the supervision of Dr. Alfredo Vellido and Dr. Lluis Belanche, currently working for the Soft Computing Research Group (SOCO) at the Departament de Llenguatges i Sistemes Informàtics (LSI). My research topics fall within the boundaries of Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition and Data Mining.
My concerns mainly focus on applying learning techniques to solve practical problems. In that sense, I am especially interested in improving the quality of life and lifestyle of human beings by means of intelligent agents. Therefore, subjects lying in the junction of Artificial Intelligence, Life Sciences and Human Health, such as Medical Diagnosis or Bioinformatics, to name few, are appealing to my research.
Among the broad range of well known methods being used by our community, I specifically deal with Artificial Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, Bayesian Methods, Clustering, Ensemble Learning, Case Based Reasoning, Evolutionary Computation, and alike, paying special attention to Feature Selection and Extraction techniques.
